Stem Cell Centre in Kuwait: KIPCO is building the first centre in the Gulf region for stem cell research and umbilical cord storage. It will be handed over to the Ministry of Health in mid-September 2017.

Facilities and Benefits: The centre will have testing and research laboratories, blood and cord storage banks, research and medical libraries, and a lecture theatre. Stem cells can be used to replace damaged cells that do not regenerate themselves.

KIPCO’s Vision: KIPCO believes that the private sector must support the government’s development plans and the advancement of medicine and scientific research. The centre will have a direct impact on the quality of people’s lives.

Faisal Al Ayyar, KIPCO’s executive vice chairman, said: “At KIPCO, we strongly believe that the private sector must play a pivotal role in supporting the government’s development plans, and that an integral part of this is the advancement of medicine and scientific research.”
